The first thing you notice about Mark is he is tall. No REALLY TALL.
At 6-6, this former Auburn offensive lineman in unmissable.
But he’s not a man to use his size to intimidate.
If anything, quite the opposite.
His bride, Allison, a lovely, intelligent, petite (she stands a good foot shorter than he, IN HEELS) school counselor, was struck most by his wit, not his amazing athletic build.
“He can be a bit intimidating at first, but that is a total fallacy,” Allison said. “His personality does not match his body at all! He’s very sweet and constantly concerned about others. He tears up when talking about our dog. He would rather total his massive truck than run over a squirrel — even if it were already dead. His personality, more than his size, makes me safe and comfortable.”
Mark, a research analyst, met Allison through friends.
“After spending about two seconds with him, I thought he was hilarious,” Allison said. “He is the funniest person I know and we laugh all the time together. He’s always been able to tease me in the perfect way. It’s funny, and it never comes across as mean.”
Mark and Allison remained friends for about a year, then began to date. Mark decided to make the one date an evening she would never forget.
“On a Friday night, Mark and I planned to go out to dinner. We ended up going to a local restaurant that we went to for our first date,” said an unsuspecting Allison.
“I was unaware at the time, but everything was exactly as it was for our first date: the restaurant, our table, what we drank, what we ate. Throughout dinner, Mark talked a lot about our first date and the beginning of our relationship. At the end of the night, as we were walking up to the door, I turned around and saw Mark on one knee, proposing!”
After a wedding at Catholic church in Savannah, the couple had their reception at one of my favorite, most welcoming and lovely venues, Palmetto Bluff.
“It’s gorgeous, and everyone there is so wonderful,” Allison said of her fairytale venue.
“Everything was perfect! I loved being surrounded by all our best friends and close family members.”
The couple slipped away after the wedding for a honeymoon at the Abaco Club at Winding Bay in the Bahamas.
