So sometimes you get things wrong, but that doesn’t mean it is not the right person and its just meant to be.
Julia, an elementary school teacher, was out one night with a group of friends and met Robbie, a retail manager. Robbie thought Julia introduced herself as “Claire,” so during their first few encounters that became her “alter ego.” Fortunately, he DID get her phone number right.
“From there, it didn’t take long for us to fall in love and want to spend every second together,” says Robbie.
It was unexpected and unplanned, just as it should be.
A bit later Robbie picked out the ring all by himself and checked all the boxes before deciding to propose on the last day of 2014.
Once again, things didn’t go as planned, but what happened couldn’t have been planned even if he had tried.
Robbie tells the story from there.
“My plan was to wake Julia up to breakfast-in-bed and I had written the 4 words on the bathroom mirror for her to see when she went to the bathroom.
I had forgotten Julia isn’t a morning person. She got upset that I woke her up too early, she didn’t eat her food or drink the coffee I made for her, and on this morning she didn’t have to pee.
So we’re sitting in the living room, the ring is in my pocket, and as she’s talking, I’m thinking, “sooo, what now…?” Here’s where things get crazy.
Julia starts to talk about a dream that I’d woken her from and in her dream, her dad had told her to go pick out an engagement ring from Target and show him so he can tell me what to get her.
Now I’m thinking “OMG! OK! this is my chance!”
So as Julia gets up to get something from her purse, I walk up behind her and say, “hey babe…in your dream, did your ring happen to look anything like this…?!” And I whip it out of my pocket like I had scripted the whole thing!
I know, smooth, right?!
So then I get down on a knee, and she’s like “OMG, what are you doing?!” and starts crying and…you know the rest… So like I said, it didn’t go as planned, but it couldn’t have turned out any better!”
The wedding was at St Gabriel with a reception at The Roof With A View. And it was a wild time!
“SO MUCH FUN! That’s all anyone can say about it. It sounds cliche, but it really was the perfect day. Not one single thing went wrong. Being with all of our family and friends was the most important thing to us and they all made it very special,” said Julia.
For a honeymoon, Julia and Robbie went to Siesta Key, FL for a full week after the wedding. SO AMAZING! White sand, clear water, great weather, and each other’s company.
So what was the best thing about the wedding day?
For Robbie, “My mom had been talking on and on about how she couldn’t wait to see the look on my face when I first saw Julia walking down the aisle. I didn’t really know what she was talking about and didn’t know what to expect, but I can’t put into words what happened to me. It was one of the greatest feelings and moments of my life and I will never forget it.”
Other than that Robbie continued, “I just had the best time at the reception, celebrating with everyone that is important in our lives.”
For Julia, “It is pretty much the same as Robbie. I was very nervous throughout the day, but the minute it was time to walk down the aisle, I was no longer nervous. Everything ended up being perfect.”
“We had an amazing time celebrating with all of the people that we love. Every one has told us how much fun our reception was. The venue was beautiful, the music was great, the food (I’ve heard) was delicious!”
“I also really appreciated the fact that Chuck was so helpful. Any question I had was instantly answered and it really helped the night to run smoothly!” Thanks Julia! It was an honor and a blast!
