This is one true blue couple: Carolina Blue, that is!
How do you get one perfectly adorable couple?
Just add water!
Our newlyweds, Meagan and Josh, love to swim. And they were recruited by a university in more ways than one. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was trying to recruit Meagan for their swim team. Josh, who swam there already, loved UNC. Josh and Meagan met when Josh volunteered to drive Meagan and her host home from a party. Josh hoped UNC could recruit a swimmer of Meagan’s caliber.
Apparently, the UNC and Josh both had a lot to recommend them. Meagan came to Chapel Hill the next fall. She and Josh began dating during her junior year.
Flash forward. Meagan is now a fashion marketing and management instructor at the Art Institute of Charlotte. Josh is a senior sales representative for Newell Rubbermaid. They love each other deeply. After Meagan gets home from a spin class, she pours a glass of wine and gets ready to make a nice dinner for Josh. Meagan begins to take a sip of the wine.
She notices something special about the glass.
Something very… sparkly.
Josh had used a wine marker to slip a lovely diamond ring onto the stem of her wineglass.
“It took me a moment to notice it, and another to register that it was real,” Meagan said. “By that time, he was down on one knee and asking me to marry him!”
The couple married at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Spartanburg, S.C., with a reception following at The Piedmont Club. Family and friends were the soul of their wedding, Meagan said.
“My mother and family and friends did all of the decorations, so every detail was exactly perfect and reflected the two of us in every way.”
The decorations included a giant balloon of Ramses, the UNC mascot, and a tongue-in-cheek nod to a bull tattoo Josh got in college, plus a LOT of Carolina baby blue. “The personalized touches, combined with being surrounded by family and friends made for the perfect day,” Meagan said.
What was her favorite thing about her wedding day? Meagan breaks into a heart-melting smile.
“Everything! Saying ‘I do’ and knowing that it was just the beginning for Josh and me. It was supposed to rain, and there were severe thunderstorms just 30 miles north of us, but our weather was perfect all day. Just like the weather, almost everything ran smoothly the entire day. The ceremony was beautiful and meaningful, the reception was everything we could have dreamed of, and everyone who helped to make the day what it was — from family to friends, the wedding party, our photographer, DJ, photo booth, reception venue, cupcake artist, hair-and-makeup — made what could have been a stressful day into a wonderful one.”
