Megan and Will at the Springs Dairy Barn

Way to go, Eagle Scout.

The Eagle Scout in question is Will Bender, who is now a student at the University of Georgia. When he saw lovely Megan Seasely at a dance while in college, he knew he’d found a jewel. Megan, who works for a non-profit in Athens, felt the same.

The couple chose an early March ceremony and were rewarded with a glorious spring day. Jason and I had the privilege of photographing the couple’s wedding at the Springs Dairy Barn in Fort Mill, SC.

As guests walked in, they were greeted with a beautiful twig-and-twine lover’s heart placed on the sidewalk. Megan’s mom made this herself, by hand.

I have photographed 100s of weddings, and I was struck by the elegance and finesse of Will and Megan’s first dance as husband and wife. (At the time, I did not know what accomplished dancers they were.)

For their wedding cake, Megan and Will chose cheesecakes, a choice the guests seemed to love!

But then after the cake cutting, Will and Megan, and many of their guests did a contra dance. For the uninitiated, contra dance is a combination of swing and square-dancing. That might sound like an odd combination, but this amalgam of dance styles is just amazing to watch. If you’ve never seen contra dancing, Google it! It is similar to line dancing, with a sinuous flow. Will’s step-father had the honor of calling the steps.

The reception was just a joy, the toasts were fun and touching, and you could simply feel the love and happiness. After their party, the couple left for their honeymoon in Colorado with the sound of cow bells (fitting for the Dairy Barn don’t you think) rung by their guests. Please click and watch their wedding mini-movie at the bottom of the images below.

P.S. As a side-note for couples who are still researching wedding venues, Will and Megan didn’t just decide to get hitched in some countryside barn. As you can see from the images, the Springs Dairy Barn is a fully restored, rustic and lovely venue. We felt honored to be part of it. What a fabulous way to kick off our year of weddings
